Elephant Hotel is a shiny black box with a peephole and a small screen with a looped video shot at my studio. The video captures a reflection of my computer screen projected onto the wall, plus of my hand, doubled and touching the screen itself. It deals with ideas of touch, reflection, projection, original, and duplicate. It takes its title from an excerpt from Sacher-Masoch’s book, where touch is fleeting and hesitant.
This project was developed with the technical assistance of Tiago Rorke, at Makers in Little Lisbon.
