Until 2021, Festival Aura is dedicated to ecology and environment, and how human and non-human worlds are entangled in dynamic relations today and in the (imagined) future. Apparently, there is no global solution for energetic resources, biodiversity, climate changes, and the culture-nature paradigm. Therefore, we encounter ourselves in a vulnerable and at the same time autocratic position in the so-called “era of the Anthropocene”.
Between the sharing of international experiences, the realization of projects with Sintra's community and good intervention practices in public space and cultural heritage, AURA creates a field of action, a language and a community of artists, thinkers, and friends from all over the world.
Aura is the perfect mixture of passion for research, the balance of resources, a sustainable impact on the landscape, and the inclusion of local cultural heritage (material and immaterial) in artistic creation and practice.
AURA was awarded the "remarkable festival" label 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 by the European association EFFE (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe) because of its artistic commitment, innovative approach, community involvement, as well as its European and international commitment.
